Christmas Fun

We hope you took time yesterday to let Jesus fill your soul with a sense of worth. From that place of knowing who you are in Christ, you are ready to be a blessing to others. So deck yourself with some fa-la-la and the favor of the Lord, and have a blessed day!

If you had fun with the turkey jokes at Thanksgiving, here are some of our favorite Christmas jokes. For a few giggles (or groans) at the dinner table, try these:

Q: How did Mary and Joseph know Jesus’ weight when he was born?
A: They had a weigh in a manger…

Q: What happened to the man who stole an Advent Calendar?
A: He got 25 days!

Q: What did Adam say the day before Christmas?
A: “It’s Christmas, Eve!”

Q: What does a donkey do when you tell him a Christmas joke?
A: He haws.

Q: What would a wiseman call a girl snowman?
A: A snow-ma’am.

For a conversation boost, try these:
• What’s your favorite Christmas cookie, holiday tradition, Christmas song, etc?
• If you were one of the wisemen and Jesus was born today, what gift would you give Him and why?
• What gift–that costs no money–would you like to give yourself this year?

Shazam! The Savior is Here!

Suddenly an angel appeared on the mantel and they were terrified!
But the angel reassured them,
“Shazam! I bring you the best news ever,
and it is for everyone!
Put your celebration glasses on.
The Savior is here!”

—Luke 2:9-11 (paraphrase!)

It is a day of celebration, and every year we realize—in a deeper way—how blessed we are to know Jesus.

Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah and a gift from our good Father—the Father who loves us more than we can imagine. May we receive His love and give it away to others in extravagant ways this coming year. And through our love, prayers, and kindness, may we be a part of the world knowing, “Shazam! The Savior is here!”

Christmas blessings to you and your family—The Kathys

A Christmas Prayer

Loving Father, help us to remember
the birth of Jesus, that we may share
in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and the worship of the wise men.
Close the door of hate and
open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift and
good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing
which Christ brings, and teach us to
be merry with clear hearts.
May the Christmas morning make us happy
to be Thy children,
and the Christmas evening bring us
to our beds with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus’ sake.
Amen!

Snowprise!

blur_edges

Very early in the morning,
as the sun comes up,
snowmen leave their yards and go to a solitary place,
where they meet with Jesus and pray.

—Mark 1:35 (Winter version)

Your Response: Take a few minutes and meet with Jesus in prayer. Pray: Holy Spirit, here I am, listening, and available to You. May I rest in Your presence as You pray a blessing over me.

(In the silence, listen with your spiritual ears and rest in the quiet. What do you hear or sense?)

If I was…

Image-1
If I was a field mouse,
this is where I’d meet with Jesus.

Praise the LORD, everything he has created,
everything in all his kingdom.
Let all that I am praise the LORD.
–Psalm 103:22 (NLT)
